It won’t be long before Duffield’s will have homegrown rhubarb and asparagus for sale in their farm market. Love both. Strawberries will probably be early this year — I can hardly wait.
I took this photo last summer at the height of the season. The man in the left foreground is bagging fresh corn, warm from the fields. Duffield’s is famous for their Silverqueen corn, sweet white corn that melts in your mouth.
And Jersey tomatoes are the biggest and best. They usually come out around July 4. And Jersey peaches. I like my peaches dripping sweet juice all over my chin and Duffield’s grows good ones.
And the bakery. Gotta get to Duffield’s soon.

Reminds me of a store named Sprouts in our neighborhood. It’s always fun to go and look at all the stuff they have that you don’t find in ordinary supermarkets.
Good on you!
I love farm markets too, so many things to look at and taste that some times I forget to take photographs!
Great shot!
A perfect post for B&W!
Have a nice day!
Someone must have a hell of a job keeping all those notices on the ceiling up to date.
This is great shot, there are so few of these remaining. I can imagine walking the aisles taking in the sights and smells
You’ve just made my mouth water! It was your description of the peaches that did it! And the bread of course – I can’t resist the scent of fresh baked bread. The sheer size of the building, with all that produce, is amazing. Fine photo, and delicious post
What a great market!
An impressive market, mouthwatering. But where are the customers? Did they beat to to the bakeshop?
Our little farmer’s market would look minuscule to this one. It is open on Saturday mornings, and I love to go and get the fresh food. In a place as large as this, I would not have enough hands to carry all i bought. The picture looks especially nice in black and white.genie
You have made me hungry very quickly! We won’t have fresh local produce for a while, but my rhubarb is about 6 inches high…
This is a lovely shot John..I can’t wait till it is Farmer’s Market season..it has been a long winter…Michelle
This looks like fun. I so wish there was one here….
Red.
Oh my gosh, John, I can’t imagine a market looking more different than the ones we shop in here in China! I bet the smells are a lot nicer there!
