Mary’s (my niece) prom was held this past Friday evening. Sister Trish had asked if I would take some pictures. I shot a few dozen pics of Mary (doesn’t she look stunning) and Brett, her handsome escort. Here are what I consider the four best photos. Enjoy.

Beautiful portraits, they look like they are having a wonderful time!
I like the last one the best… the side lighting adds a depth which the others lack.
Thanks Dimple. I think they were growing weary of posing. They were happy to be on their way to join their friends. The high contrast lighting in the last photo helps B&W to pop. The first three images were shot at 1/60 with the 85mm/2.0 lens wide open. I stopped down to f8 or thereabouts and used a much higher shutter speed for the final shot.
I definitely agree, she’s stunning. I thinks the last two especially nice, great job Uncle John!
Thank you Wayne. I do my best.
Well done, Uncle John! Again with the black and white. No one else I know can do like you do.
Thanks Kathleen. Practice and a love of the medium helps me.
They’re very photogenic, aren’t they? Photo #4 is especially nice. I think Dimple is on to something about the side lighting adding depth.
Hi Steve. I had them move so the sun wasn’t in their eyes. I like shooting B&W with plenty of contrast.
I think I love the third one, but then she is lovely and needed something that shows just her. You did a great job.
I just have to ask though, what color was her dress?
Good call Val. I like that third one too. The dress was gold (sparkles) and Brett’s tie and vest matched the color of the dress.
I was beginning to wonder where you had gone. I love the third one. They look wonderful. Such happy pictures. I hope she had a lovely time.
Red.
Hi Red. I’ve been around but haven’t had the computer on as much lately. I haven’t talked with Mary since the prom but my sister loves the pics.
She is just beautiful and what a lovely couple they make…Takes me back in time…Michelle
Thanks Michelle. Takes me back way too far. Would you believe 50 years. That’s scary.
