I was searching through my archives the other day looking for a nice color flower macro. I found this shot of white columbine taken ten years ago. The original is a Fuji Velvia color transparency that I scanned into my computer.
Funny thing happened on the way to this post. I ‘lost’ the color and gained a much better photograph in the conversion to monochrome.

Another time you have uncolored outside the lines. I love it as a monochrome. Columbines have such sweet flowers. This one looks almost daffodil.
Red.
Lovely.
Utterly beautiful. I love Columbines, now I think I love them more in B/W
Without color to distract, we are free to fully notice the detail. A beautiful photo, John.
The monochrome reveals the details in the petals that would otherwise be lost. Very nice.
I love the composition, contrast and short depth of field that brings the flower to the center of attention. Very striking image, John.
Not all flowers convert well to black and white, but this one certainly has. The detail shows well, and I don’t think the composition could be bettered.
Fortunately the flower looks awesome in B&W!

You can see the creamy texture of the flower..beautiful John…Michelle
A great picture in B&W! Lovely post for W-B&W!
Well spread light, and fine contrast as well. Beautiful! Regards.
This is a beauty in every sense, John.
I love it!
Yes you did! Love happy accidents
This works very well in b&w! Wonderful!
Very nicely done, John.
The Columbine is beautiful as a monochrome and I am thinking it is probably pretty spectacular in its natural colorful setting too – I am torn between the two states of take, each communicating different thoughts. My white Iris this week
is a case in point – although depicted in monochrome for the meme, shown in its original context, for me, it tells much more. I am glad you can do what you are doing despite whatever it is you are battling – you are a survivor!
