This is a close-up of the never ending eternal supply of delicious, juicy, can’t wait to savor the next treat in life’s infinite bowl of cherries.
Just look at these tasty morsels. Go ahead. Stick your hand in the bowl and grab a handful — the cherries are there for the taking. Which one will taste the best? Pick one, munch and discover for yourself. Delicious.
Ideas are like cherries. You never know what they’ll taste like until you bite into one. Would you shun a bowl of luscious cherries because you fear one might be sour? Imagine what you could be missing. The next cherry, the next idea may be the one to send you into a frenzy of creativity.
Ideas are like cherries. Bet you can’t eat just one. Linger and savor them one by one. That’s how you find the best ideas.
Be sure to visit Lisa’s Chaos for more Macro Monday photos. Thank you Lisa. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to share.
Beautiful photo and so true. 🙂
love the analogy!
Beautiful picture… it makes me dream of summer.
Thanks Colleen. Dreaming of warm days, juicy peaches, luscious tomatoes, white corn so sweet it makes your teeth ache, long bicycle rides… But we must endure another winter first. Still…we can dream. Love cherries too. Can you tell?
Hi John! The cherries look so yummy! Can I have one?
Happy New Year!
Of course. Help yourself. Bet you can’t eat just one.
My favorite treat is a big juicy rainier cherry that pops in my mouth — and never fails to please each taste bud.
jaws are aching and saliva running already just by the photo.
Beautiful photo! Very true and meaningful message!
I wish you and your family a Happy New Year! 🙂
And you cannot enjoy the cherries without have to contend with a few pits along the way.
yum! they all look so good!
i wish i can take a bite for real…a very awesome shot
Very pretty! Can you believe I love cherry candies but don’t like cherries? I’m weird, I know.
Nice still life photo John. I love the light and shadows, they really bring out the beauty of the cherries I think. And of course reading the teasing story makes me want to take some of our cherries from the freezer and go bake something!
Thanks for the compliments. There’s a story behind this shot. There always is. I had a few shots left in my camera after returning from a day in Ocean City, NJ. The film was Fuji consumer grade transparency rated at 200 which is kind of high for slide film. I usually use Fuji Provia or Astia.
My wife loves the “yellow” cherries and there was a bowl sitting on the kitchen counter. On an impulse, I grabbed the bowl of cherries and took it upstairs to an unused front bedroom with north facing windows. I stuck in on a small table and shot with camera mounted on my tripod. I’ve always liked this shot and on another spur of the moment, decided to use it for this week’s macros.
Hi John,
That is so true. Where I am right now is in the heart of the Okanagan Valley in B.C. Sweet and sour cherries here! It is always interesting to see what pics can state that words cannot. Hope your Christmas was a good one. Happy New Year too! Di
Great shot and that sure is a close up. I thought they were plums at first. 🙂
Oh. I see you and Lisa have already met. I was just “introducing” you in an email conversation. Boy is my face red. Like these cherries.
And I actually like cherries that are a little on the tart side. A little … edgy. But maybe that’s just me.
Love this photo sweet or tart though.
Interesting analogy! And a beautiful picture of luscious cherries, too. 🙂
I love cherries and ideas. We can savor both. Thanks for the interesting post.
Hi John,
Thanks for the comment on my ribbon macro, and your gentle correction. I have come to value your comments, they are helpful and encouraging.
And you are right: It is I, the photographer, who sees the picture I want. But sometimes my tools are not up to the task! My new camera is able to translate more of my vision into successful images than was its predecessor. I am having a lot of fun learning to use it.
Blessings,
Dimple
Thank you Dimple. I’m encouraged by your second paragraph where you say “My new camera is able to translate more of my vision into successful images…” Perfect! Discovering new things is so much fun.
I love that we can indulge in these delicious cherries during winter time.
Great message you share here! A sour cherry here and there is definitely worth the reward of the rest of the bowl.
The cherries looks juicy and delicious.
The cherries look so yummy so I taste one 😉
Beautiful photo!
It makes me also dream of summer ! I love cherries !
Hi John LOVE the cherries and the analogy – we have cherry season now and you just reminded me that I need to go and enjoy while I can ….
I enjoyed paging thru your postings. I really like your writing style. Your photos are superb. I really enjoyed the way you see things. Am I reading correctly that you use film, and then must scan them in?
Beautiful creativity!
Lovely picture! I just love macro!
So crunchy and succulent!
Happy New Year!
Great shot John, very tasty!
Those cherries look so good, its the first fruit of the spring I can hardly wait for. I like your analogy as well. Gives me some ideas to ponder over!
Thank you for visiting my blog, hope you have a very Merry New Year!!
Jon love the cherries your focus as always is lovely but in this one what caught my was the lighting, lovely exposure without any harshness great macro.
Thanks Amanda. I used natural lighting from a north facing window. It’s about the best light you can get.
