When I could, I wandered the streets of Saigon in the afternoon. You never know what you’ll find with street photography. I was fortunate to discover these kids. Kids are the best because they aren’t usually shy (well, the little boy was a bit shy that day).
I wonder if I was thinking about reflections when I caught this scene? No matter, when I was going through my slides this week, I discovered this gem that I hadn’t looked at in many years. Sometimes, when I look through my slide collection, I wonder how many of the people I photographed, especially the kids, made it through the war.
We’ll never know, but we can reflect and remember.
Be sure to visit James’ Weekend Reflections. He’s got something special going that you won’t want to miss.
What a beautiful picture with adorable children. Reflection looks great.
I wondered too how many of them made it…Neat shots too.
Lovely moment, great photography and reflection.
Happy weekend reflections,
Léia
Beautiful thoughts and wonderment…I hope they did. Great photography and reflections as a bonus!
You are good in capturing life! and in keeping the memories.
Well preserved one! Wonderful shot.
Nice shot…makes me wonder about these kids today also…nice refection but the kids command the attention…
Yeah, the kids command the attention. The reflections are subtle. If you look closely, you can see the image of the girl in the glass behind her.
neat photo that really captures a glimpse in time. love the cute shy boy.
A very reflective reflection. My mind has not gone back to 1966 in many a long day. Thank you for the journey.
I like the photograph of the children and the life passing them by in the reflection. I hope life DID NOT pass them by. It is obviously an important memory for you to reflect upon every so often.
Have a peaceful weekend.
Love the cameo roles played by the variety of reflections! Fascinating photo!
Very good picture. I often think, when I photograph random people, that I own a memory that they might have forgotten.
Great picture! Those kids would be older than me if they made it and I hope they did. When I was kid I would spend hours looking at photos of Vietnam. It’s strange but it almost feels like I’ve been there.
I really enjoy seeing your pictures.
There’s a lot to look at in this photo. It’s a tad melancholic yet beautiful.
Hi John, This was a very delightful story. And a nice reflection photo of the children. How sad the war must have been for them.
John I have a tip about Blogger. If you go to your settings you can put in a link to your WordPress web page. A lot of people do it that way.
Thanks Pam, I put a link to Aware Writer in the right column at the top.
The kids are adorable. The reflections in the window of the cars are a great ‘time placement’ addition.
Wonderful and touching entry. I spent some time in Israel many years ago and have such fond memories of the people I met and friends I made – I always wonder about them too.
Hi John, this is a wonderful image. Even the broken glass taped together added more beauty to it.
BTW: those are lovely photographs of you and Tracey from way back. I still have my negatives. I will try to keep them in good storage.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks Ebie,
I’m having quite a lot of fun going through all my old negs and slides. I finally decided to do a lot of scanning and organizing. Of course I’ll be making new ones too. Can’t wait until tomorrow (Halloween) when I can photograph the grandkids in their costumes.
Sweet smiling faces!
Love the old cars reflected as well.
I hope they are both safe and well today and having a wonderful life.
what lovely children – i hope they’re alive and well today. The reflections in the photo are lovely too, very subtle
oops, I see somewhow I didn’t log in properly – sandeyes was me. sorry!
Yes you are right. Reflecting is a must.
awarewriter, there is so much history behind that shot… The reflections went unnoticed then, but we see them now. Wonderful job! Happy Weekend reflections!
A reflection-post with a difference – a very large difference. It made me reflect, and I thank you for that.
What a sweet picture and a thoughtful post! Lovely reflection.
They are so natural here. The view makes them full of hope for the future.
An interesting photo with a combination of views.
What a perfect post for Weekend Reflections. Reflections on so many levels. This really is a great snapshot of a specific time and place that has had such profound effect on so many.
This is absolutely gorgeous. I love it 🙂 Great photo my friend 🙂
If they made it they could be grandparents by now! Great photo and post!
